What is a Notary Public?

A Notary Public is a State appointed impartial public servant who legally stamps an important document to deter fraudulent activity when being signed. The stamp verifies that they appeared before a notary public with identification and either acknowledges or takes an oath. These official acts are called notarizations, or notarial acts.
