Monica Colston started The Notary Firm in 2020, after being displaced from her job due to economic cutbacks that plagued the globe during the recent pandemic. Since The Notary Firm was established, she has successfully completed hundreds of error-free real estate closings in Erie and Niagara Counties. “I love what I do, and I do what I love” has been the mantra that motivates her every day to serve her clients.

Monica and her family
Monica earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Prior to The Notary Firm, she worked with several engineering and construction firms in honing her administrative, management, and customer relations skills. Monica has over 20 years of experience as an engineer, providing complex analytical solutions to large-scale tasks in a diverse array of settings. Her expertise in meeting the needs of a consumer-led business industry has allowed her to move quickly up the ladder.
No stranger to the notary industry, Monica has been a certified licensed notary public since 2004. Fast forward to today, and she is a certified Notary Signing Agent, handling residential real estate closings in the mortgage industry. Results-oriented in her approach, Monica uses her varied skill set in both the technical and administrative fields to support The Notary Firm as an entrepreneurial success.

Familiar with all of these transactions and more, The Notary Firm handles the vast array of New York State-required loan documents. Our services span the United States, performing closings in a range of states.
The Notary Firm prides itself in providing excellent customer service. Our friendly professionals are always on time and can easily accommodate early hours before work, anytime during the day, evenings, nights and weekends.
The Notary Firm also offers general notary work services, but our primary focus is working with lawyers and title companies to perform real estate closings. Our services are mobile, which means that we perform notaries on-site at a location that works best for customers.
Certifications & Expertise
Monica was certified as an NSA (Notary Signing Agent) through the National Notary Association (NNA), and has been a member since 2004 through annual recertification. She has also been certified as an NSA through Notary Signing Agent Blueprint, The Loan Signing System, and Notary 2 Notary. Monica is proud to say that she has also recently joined the Buffalo Niagara Partnership. Each organization offers specialized training, as well as a field-specific network of collaborators. The Notary Firm is a MBE and WBE company.
